OOTD ft. Afraba's Ankara Frill Necklace

Yea Yea.. Pretty Old!  Pardon my absence lately. This outfit seems to have a very good response each time its displayed. This outfit actually came from this years summer lookbook featuring This frill Ankara Necklace which was purchased from Afraba. The colors, the beauty and quality is amazing. Not forgetting its versatility, it can be worn in many ways(night and day). Definitely a Statement piece.

I would recommend such a look for parties, and casual lunch dates.

DISCOVER YOUR POTENTIALS/GIFTS

 Know who you are
 In my old post " you are who you are " i pointed out a few things, we often ignored about ourselves as Christians. Our value or importance in Christ and even in life. One fact we ought to know is that we all are children of the Most High God and therefore, inherit the blessings that come from the Father. In Him and with Him, all things are possible and we can do all things through Him. In 2 Corinthians 3:18 ..."And we ... are being transformed into His likeness with ever increasing glory which comes from the Lord, who is in the Spirit..." there is the assurance of increasing Glory, victory and success. You hold the power to Grow in glory, therefore there is no room for failure. If you understand this, and if you believe, there is nothing to fear.

Detox the Do's and Who's
The Do's and Who's, our Habits, our thoughts and even the people around us. We lose focus on what is necessary and accommodate our negative actions and thoughts. This may be the new beginning for you and probably in a new direction away from what you are comfortable with. Mind you, "Great things never came from Comfort zones" so do not be scared to embrace the change. The change begins within your mindset and thoughts. Clear your mind off negative thoughts, renew your mind with the things that edify and renew your spirit. Certain habits like procrastination, or laziness, just to mention a few must go. Stay away from the things and people that add no value to you.

Surround yourself with Positivity
Don't be scared to walk away from the "drama" as we call it. Take measures to create positive vibes around you. Make the Bible your go-to book, read novels or books that inspire and motivate you. The music we listen to these days are sometimes contaminated with foul words and can only be depressing, so why not try something different? Lets do more of the inspirational and uplifting songs with positive lyrics. Take a well deserved break from anything that stresses you out. You need a sound mind to embrace the new you!

Identify your Strengths and Work on them
We have different gifts according to the grace given to each of us Romans 12:6-8 . These talents and gifts were planted in us for use and for His glory. They are not to be hidden. You are wrong if you are thinking that the only talent you were blessed with is singing, just because you have a great voice, or it is dancing, just because you cam move with the beat. There is a lot more in you, waiting to be discovered. Listen to yourself more,and be more observant, you would notice the things you do great in, you would notice the things you are complimented on mostly. Identify them, and when you do, work on them. Get all the assistance and help you can get to develop it. Get close to those who have been there before and can help you get through. Read more on them, practice more, but more importantly, you must seek honest opinions from others. This is when a lot of people give up, but don't be counted as one of them. The reviews may be disheartening and very discouraging, but take them as helpful criticism. It can only get better.

Try New Things, Be Adventurous
Break the ice, get out of your comfort zone and try out new things. As stated earlier, you are not limited in the blessings and gifts from God. He said, "As far as your eyes can see, I will give to you..." that promise applies to you too. If you were never comfortable standing before a crowd and speaking, start now. You never know where your leadership or counseling skill will begin to show. If you have never led a worship team, then this may be your chance. You are a worshiper in the waiting. Sometimes, all you would ever need is that first try. God will lead you if you let him. Do not be confined within your strengths.

Bless the world with it
You might have discovered a lot by now. Praise God for that! Remember, these gifts were given to you for a purpose and all to His Glory. Enjoy it, Have fun and help others. If you found yourself to be an inspirational speaker, then go out there and touch lives with the words God speaks through you. If you discovered that you are a comedian, then please go out there and make others laugh. There is no need to be judgemental because every gift counts. There are millions of souls out there in need of help and people, to touch them in various ways. It could be through music, so go ahead and write that song. It could be monetary, so why not be a philanthropist. It also could be food,so why not cook for the hungry and needy. Bless a soul out there with your gift.

Stay Blessed

OOTN- Girls Night Out

Hello Everyone!!
My apologies for the time gone without posting. I have been very occupied with many events and responsibilities i had no control over. I did miss posting though, if that helps lol. Hope you all doing well out there. So i decided to share with you an outfit of the night. This is what i would wear out with my girls for a night out.(One out of many options) I would share many other outfit ideas Later. I am not a Makeup guru, but i definitely applaud myself for such a beat face (I know i know lol).

 Bodycons Can either make you or break you in fashion. Don't get me wrong, all body types and shapes can wear them. I personally love this dress but not my favorite. It exposes a bit much but Very colorful and flattering. I had to wear this with a blazer , not only because it was a bit cold that night but also (optional) to cover up a bit more. The details on this dress gives me life. The colors are pretty and front zippers on any dress to me, is daring lol

Below is a video of my outfit on youtube, I hope you like it. Do comment if you want to see more of these... I will post more from now on by Grace. Outfit details down below. Thanks luvlies!

Fashion Styling/ African Inspired OOTD (3)

Hey everyone,
  I really haven't been posting a lot lately, and That is definitely because i have been a bit tied up with a lot. That should not be an excuse but Trust i would definitely do that soon. This is another Outfit i put together for AFRABA. Some of you may already know this, but for those who may not, My previous Posts will shed more light on it. Below is an outfit for the ladies:
Here is a more casual look for the summer. A simple coral chiffon shirt paired with studded denim shorts for a bit of detailing. For a more covered up look, you can simply switch or replace these shorts with high waist denim paints or simple denim pants. The Ankara Ear studs and the triple pyramid ring have beautiful studs, or stones on them which draw a bit of attention to you without doing too much. I absolutely love this look because it works well with all looks; thick, skinny, short and tall. I know you ladies can pull this off without a sweat ;-)

Fashion styling 2 With AFRABA

Hi everyone!
 I came back today with another look and this time, NOT for our Ladies, BUT our Handsome men. As shown and stated in my previous post Fashion Styling 1, I was given the opportunity this summer to style their Designs and accessories with the Trends of the season. Mixing urban trends with Culture and african inspired Fashion items could be a struggle for many out there so Hopefully this helps you men out there :).
The item chosen in this Style is the plaid bowtie above. The bow tie is unisex and therefore can be worn by all. Lightweight and really a statement piece. There are some fashion pieces, we all must have in our wardrobe and a bow tie is one of them. This look is suitable for weddings, drink ups, happy hour, work, and others. This is a basic Blue Dress shirt with brown khaki pants, worn with brown leather dress shoes. Due to the basic colors i added on a match darker shade of a brown belt and wrist watch to get noticed. A pair of cuff links to match the main colors displayed and of course our Afraba plaid bows. The Sun glass is very optional, and does not need to be worn. Trust me you don't have to spend a fortune to get this look. Like, comment and share

Fashion Styling/African Inspired 1

Hello friends,

It has definitely been a while since i last posted on this blog, but trust me I had you all in mind. Today i decided to share this with you. I did some styling for "AFRABA" , An african inspired clothing and accessory line based in the US. I had to show how i would blend in some of their african inspired pieces with the fashion trends out there today. Not as easy as you may think you know. Considering the different prints involved, It took a lot of brain storming and i must say that, It came out good. This was the first outfit i put together .Hope you like this.

This necktie is Awesome! Couldn't wait to get styling lol .This outfit did it all for me and i believe it should for all the fashionista's out there. Girls night out, Business meetings, Drink Ups, Happy Hour, Party, Meet and Greets,  ....Name them. For we ladies who like to cover up and still look like a million bucks, this is probably a go to look for you. It covers up the chest area perfectly and yet grabs attention in the same area due to the gold detailing on the collar and neck tie. The skirt could be purchased according to preferred length. Those heels also give you a clean and sexy look. Not too much details on them. A textured clutch to add on and hey, who doesn't want a lil' bling bling here and there haha!
Look Beautiful and stay Beautiful

YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE!!!

Now before you pull out your birth certificates, passports, identification cards etc... just to show me what you are identified by in this world, Read This!
     We all have stories to tell. Bullying, Molestation, Insults, Assaults, Abuse, Rape, Neglect, Fear, Low Self- Esteem, Poverty, Illness, need i state more? I do have my very own story to tell, but is that what i should be labelled as?
     We let ourselves go, and according to us, we lost our self respect, dignity, confidence, and many more in the process and even find it difficult to let go of the past. Losing sight of who we are. We blame it on the event or experience but wait, even before it happened, did you know who you really are (NOT WERE)? Is that who you are and is that what you are made of?

Lets go back to where we all started from. In Genesis 1: 27-28 "God created man in his own image, in the image of God created him, male and female he created them..." In psalm 139:14, it says "....I am fearfully and wonderfully made...." In 1 john 3:1" How great is the love the father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!"

Who are you? A CHILD OF GOD! ( **Fearfully and wonderfully made **)

Now if in Revelation 17:14 it says " These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful." and in 1 Peter 2:9 also it says, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” then,

What are you? ROYALTY!

We always recognize the likes of Queen Elizabeth, Princess Diana, Prince Charles and so on but never see ourselves as what we are. Maybe you still do not get the picture. You are Priceless, a Royal Priesthood, Powerful, Blessed...
Royalty begets Royalty. You think Queen Elizabeth has no idea who she is? They all know who they are. Their mannerism, their demeanor, is definitely one of class. The authority, privileges and respect was not earned but inherited from their King. Why cant you exercise yours? What stops you?

As the royal priesthoods that God calls us to be. We are chosen and called. Exercise that Power and authority of royals. You have been given the power to overcome for you are overcomers! " For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power and of love, and of sound mind." 2 timothy 1:7. Let go of the fear, the shame, the pain, the confusion, and the hurt. Rather, be filled with the Spirit!

REFUSE to be called Shameful, loser,  failure, disgrace, inferior, Sick, Poor, etc...For that is not who and what you are!
 You are children of God, a royal priesthood, Powerful, strong and Great!.
 YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE! (not what others say you are)

The love for onions... Read why

"Ewwww"? ... you might not say that after reading this.
 I hated onions too. If i don't pick them out of my food, then I would usually go for the onions fried in stew or grilled on a stick of juicy, tasty khebab along with strips of sliced green peppers. (too much information?) lol, ok let me not get into my taste bud favorites now. Wanna do something different today/ Let me let you in on my new obsession. I know its not what you want to hear or see, but HERE WE GO;

There are various kinds of onions out there, and i am not referring to just one kind. I loo-ve onions! I will tell you why i do, but before that, did you know, Onions belong to the plant genus Allium? The edible ones are actually Allium cepa. It is believed to have originated for ASIA, but obviously grows virtually on every continent. (maybe almost). Surprisingly, ONIONS are health must-haves. So My natural sisters, fitness lovers, and beauty gurus HAVE to read this.
Ok ok, straight to it lol, let me tell you why i am obsessed with this vegetable... read on;

There are MANY unknown benefits from eating or using onions. Most of us either know, or have never heard of them but i will mention a few on here, especially those I know worked tremendously well for me.

Benefits of Onion on Skin:
1. Increases blood circulation, thereby making you look more radiant and youthful when used to massage skin.
2. Prevents and treats many infections and diseases.
3. Heals and treats burns and insect bites
4. Clears, or lightens and removes dark patches or pigments off your face.
5.Very Rich in quercetin, an antioxidant which keeps skin wrinkle free.
6. The antioxidants, together with the vitamins(A,C and E) contained in an onion fights against damage caused by UV rays and premature aging.
7. They have antibiotic, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities, which help remove skin impurities, protects against acne-causing bacteria and treats acne and pimples.
8. For detoxification, thereby Making you glow.

An example of a home remedy anyone can do at home for hyper-pigmentation, dark patches;

DIY Onion Face mask for hyper-pigmentation
Ingredients;
1/4 sliced onion(JUICE preferably)
1tb spoon of honey
1/2 lemon(JUICE)
1 tb spoon milk
(drop of fragrance oil for all those who find the smell of onion offensive. )
1tb spoon of flour if you want a thicker consistency.

Method;
Mix all ingredients into a bowl until desired consistency. Apply evenly on an already cleansed face and neck with clean fingers or a cotton ball. Leave on for 15-20 minutes. Massage your face in a circular motion (gently and evenly) before rinse. Do this at least twice a week for best results.

I only mentioned a few, and you already think i am done? Read on lol Lets move on to Hair.

Benefits of onion on Hair:
1. Treats or stops excessive hair shedding.
2. Controls the issue of lice.
3. Fights hair loss and thinning.
4. A Natural Hair conditioner
5. Maintains hair color.
6. Fights hair loss and increases the length of hair.

I struggled with the issue of hair thinning and an itchy scalp until i started Making use of this amazing vegetable. If you are experiencing excessive hair shed, hair loss, balding, thinning or even dandruff, then this is definitely your go-to savior.

This is a simple home remedy for you;

DIY Onion Treatment for Dandruff/Thinning/Hair Loss/Excessive Shedding;
Ingredients;
2 tb spoon honey
1 onion (juiced)
2 tb spoon coconut oil
2 drops of fragrance oil if smell is offensive.
1 egg (optional)

Method:
Mix together in bowl. Section hair into four. Gently applying into your sections, try not to pull on hair. Cover hair with a cap, for about 20-30 minutes or more. Apply heat for a deeper treatment. Rinse thoroughly. Do this at least once a week for best results. (you might need a nicely strong scented shampoo and conditioner after this lol)

I am almost done now. This is the Best Part! (To mention a few...)

Health Benefits of onions;
1. Quick healing medicine for the sick.
2. Immediate cure for cough, allergies, sore throat, fever and common cold.
3. slows or stops nose bleeding, when inhaled.
4. Increases the release of digestive juice, which helps to improve digestive health.
5. Helps prevent insomnia or sleeping disorders.
6. When consumed daily, protects you from osteoporosis.
7. Helps prevent cancers like, colon cancer.
8. Reduces the risk of developing gastric ulcers.
9. Help cure menstrual disorders, if consumed few days before start of menstrual cycle.
10. For the treatment of tooth ache and tooth decay.
11. For Good memory and a strong nervous system.
12. Onion juice can be used as eye drops for clear vision.
13. Increases insulin.  Also controls sugar levels in the blood,thereby treating diabetes.
14. Removes bad cholesterol if consumed daily.
15. Improves heart health.

Amazing benefits right? I was really surprised too. I guess a lot of changes are to be made in our diet, skin and hair regimen. Its not going to be easy considering the smell of onions, and not forgetting the non-inviting BAD BREATHE you are about to wrestle with lol. REMEMBER TO GRAB A CARTON FULL OF GUM! you will definitely need it. "AN ONION A DAY KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAY."

I  really hope this helps anyone out there. XOXO!
